SUMMARY: The City of Kingman has contracted with Southwest Energy Solutions (SES) to read water meters for several years. SES provided notice it intended to discontinue meter reading services. The city requested that SES continue reading meters until staff could be hired and trained to perform this work in-house.
This proposed amendment to our previous agreement would continue SES meter reading services through December 31, 2016. It is anticipated that city staff will be hired, trained, and reading meters before that time.
FISCAL IMPACT: Staff is projecting a savings of $50,000 by bringing meter reading services in-house. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends authorizing the Mayor to sign First Amendment to Agreement for meter reading services with SES. |
